Dannbooru Ripoff?¶
Yes. I wanted a web based manager for my family photo album, and danbooru seemed like the perfect thing. After 4 hours messing with ruby on rails, hunting down gem dependancies, installing danbooru, then getting half way through installing postgresql, I gave up, figuring it would be easier to do a PHP+MySQL hack and write my own imageboard from scratch. It was, and I had the basic image upload and tagging working in a half hour \o/
It really was a hack though, hence the need for a rewrite...
Actually, I've found some design doodles which predate me finding danbooru. They're more like futaba + ajax than danbooru though, so not much of them went into the current design~
